Business Advisory Centre – Manager, Business Advisory Centre

The Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation (GPA EDC) is currently seeking applications for the position of Manager, Business Advisory Centre. This full time position will report to the Director, Manufacturing and Small Business and is a member of the GPA EDC Management Team. The successful candidate will be a proactive, results-driven individual who delivers high quality results in all assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business consultations regarding information, regulations, services, and business plan review for both start up and existing small business clients. Respond to general inquiries from clients in the form of emails, telephone calls, office walk-ins and videoconference
  • Plan and coordinate the services of the office /resource centre including the development and maintenance of an inventory of resource material and information
  • Prepare funding proposals to develop and deliver workshops, seminars, special projects and other business-related activities. This includes the development, coordination, promotion and execution of special events and Ministry programming
  • Contribute to the successful execution of the GPA EDC’s Strategic Plan and other stakeholder agreements. Prepare the annual budget, business plan, monthly reporting and maintaining relevant statistical information
  • Supervise BAC staff
  • Recruit private sector sponsors to serve on the BAC Advisory Committee
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and other public events representing the BAC and the GPA EDC as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or relevant experience in business or entrepreneurship
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Superior time management skills/ability to multi-task several priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of basic accounting skills and principles
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation

An Asset:

Experience in marketing and/or networking to act as a liaison with various community organizations to develop and maintain an appropriate referral network

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm

Work schedule flexibility to meet deadlines is expected.
