Peterborough Region Oil Sands Consortium The Peterborough Region Oil Sands Consortium is a marketing web portal developed to showcase manufacturers and specialized service providers in the Peterborough region that have the skills and expertise to potentially assist in Alberta Oil Sands Initiatives.
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), the Oil Sands Developers Group (OSDG) and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) up-to-date opportunity forecasts for the oil sands are as follows:
- $317 Billion expected from 2008 to 2030
- $80 Billion in next 4 years
- More than $3 trillion in economic activity for Canada
The following needs have been identified:
Instrumentation: analyzers, flow instruments, pressure instruments, level instruments, temperature Instruments
Valves: solenoids, safety valves, regulating valves
Fabricated Metal: structural steel, heat exchangers, piping, orifice plates, reactors, tanks, distillation, columns, pressure vessels
Electrical Equipment: pumps, motors, steam turbines, compressors
Services: machining, industrial automation, energy, environmental and control technologies engineering services, maintenance and supply services, maintenance and repair operations, supply environmental products such as water filtration and reduced consumption. In general, there is a need to provide technology and automation solutions to offset labour dependence i.e. offer unique solutions to compensate for high mix, low volume production.
Note: High-level accreditations such as CWB (or other high end welding certification), PEO, ASME, ISO certification etc. are typically required.
